Nigeria Will Pioneer with Free Digital Television

Nigeria Will Pioneer with Free Digital Television

Welcome the first African country that is going to switch from analogue to free digital TV. Some of the African countries have already migrated to digital, but they work on a subscription model, so the subscribers have to pay. In the meantime, the Nigerian government decided to copy the Freeview model pioneered in the UK, and is going to get 30 channels into 20 million homes through subsidized digital set-top boxes worth $7.50 each. However, customers will still have to pay for the boxes and a license fee of $5 a year.

The experts explain that about 16 digital channels can fit in the space of an old analogue one, which means that a spectrum worth about $1bn will be freed up, which can be sold to mobile phone companies in order to satisfy Nigerians’ growing demand for 3G and 4G. Taking into account the cost of subsidizing the boxes and installing transmitters across Nigeria (approximately $500m), the government can get another $500m profit to plug the holes in its budget caused by low oil prices and production. The authorities believe that this model can work because they’ve already sold off some spectrum to a South Africa-based mobile telecoms company for $170m. Perhaps, Ghana, Congo and Ivory Coast can follow the example of Nigeria. There can be a domino effect, because digital signals in countries that make the switch may interfere with other countries’ analogue signals.

Market experts explained that the main competition is Chinese StarTimes, which has a different business model: it offers African governments cheap lending in return for control of the TV service using a pay-TV model. FreeTV first launched in central Nigeria in May 2016, and it is expected that the analogue signal will be switched off this November.

A knock-on effect on the local movie industry is also expected: it was estimated that Nollywood studios that now struggle with piracy would get an extra $250m a year. Country residents have questioned whether Nigeria will really manage to switch off the analogue signal by 2017, saying that the government has previously missed its targets in 2012 and 2015. On the other hand, others call it “the new telecoms” industry, because the figure of 30m households makes Nigeria a bigger market than any of the countries with free digital TV.

MTN Magic SIM

Just Today as I visited my favorite forum for Cheat Earlyface.com, I stumbled upon a new browsing cheat, I haven't tested it yet but If this particularly cheat can work, It would put a big Smile on Nigerians face. MTN Magic sim is back with a little different settings that varies from the old one., this tweak used to work a long time ago but it was risen from the dead..
MTN

Procedures:

  1. Recharge your line with #100 airtime,or make sure you have up to #100 in your sim...Note:your account must be 100.00kb to do this, also make sure you don't have data or MB in your sim anywhere else..
  2. Now buy a daily data plan of 30mb which costs #100 by dialing *131#,then keep pressing 1 till you buy the plan
  3. Your #100 would be deducted and you will be given the 30mb...your account should be left up with 0.00kb including all your data..
  4. Now browse or download with the 30mb a little, leave only 4 or 5 MB remaining..
  5. Now remove your sim from your phone, make sure you marked the time you subscribed for the plan.
  6. Then do not insert it back again after 24hrs but should be 5minutes ahead.let's say you sub at 10:05am,mark the time, after you have left 5 or 4mb remaining, remove the sim and insert it back the following morning by 10:00am..
  7. Now when you insert back your sim by 10:00am,quickly rush and browse a little with your remaining megabytes..
  8. Just keep browsing but don't download with it.
  9. Keep browsing till the sub expires.
  10. You will receive a confirmation message saying, your 30mb daily sub has expired, bla bla bla..(good luck, your magic sim has been activated)
  11. If you do not get the response when it has reached the time it suppose to expire,Good luck
too, your magic sim has been activated.
  12. It would make MTN to think you are still using your 30mb sub and by doing that it
  13. would become unlimited..#just keep browsing and downloading, start flexing..
Do not off your data connection when it has been activated,or do not let your phone go off and on cause if you do,the magic would be automatically deactivated.. You will have to do it again,,it's just matter of leaving your phone on steady..
